CASARABONELA is one of the most beautiful villages of Sierra de las Nieves and indeed of the province of Malaga. It lies pretty as a postcard, with its Arab appearance, its all invading Moorish atmosphere and above all the colour and taste of Andalusian villages. In its narrow alleys with quiet squares time seems to evade all hurry and agitation, and the whitest of houses in whose walls you often find the “hornacinas”, little niches containing images of saints, by which homage is paid to these images of popular devotion.
- We will begin our first day with a painting workshop in one of the many natural locations which our beautiful municipality boasts. We will place ourselves at “El Chorrerón”, a natural waterfall which gushes forth from the mouth of the spring of “la Fuente Quebrá” located some metres above. We will enjoy its unique microclimate in this idyllic spot of nature while the facilitator teaches us the basics of the art of painting, the different techniques, materials used, framing, proportions, volume and the theory of colour.
Next we will capture this unique landscape with the painting technique of your choice (wate colours, oil, etc.) so that each of you may take home with you a memento of this municipality.
-On the second day we will make our way to Llano Cristóbal, a route which will take us over chalky land where we will observe the limestone formations so typical of these mountains and wander through the pine tree landscape with wonderful vistas. We will also have the chance to sight birds in this ideal habitat. It is well worth taking a look from the Llano Cristóbal viewpoint in order to contemplate the panoramic view over the Guadalhorce valley and the village of Casarabonela nestled in the flank of the mountain and clustered around its ruined medieval castle.
This emblematic place will be the ideal place for the facilitator to introduce us to one of the decorative techniques used in pottery, known as Raku, a traditional oriental technique. We will end up with objects of tones, textures, shades and fascinating colours, each and every one unique in nature, and each object can vary in tone from metallic reds to crackled glazes, irridescent luster and metallic finish, so typical of this technique.
Raku is a complex alchemy of the four elements: earth, fire, water and air, out of which unique pieces are obtained, and they are always stunning.
